Formula E
Designlab Experience was honoured to be commissioned to design the Royal Cube, the private VIP viewing deck for Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the inaugural ABB Formula E in 2018, as well as the following year of Formula E in 2019.
Overlooking the racetrack and UNESCO heritage ruins of Ad Diriyah, the Royal Cube provided a sophisticated gathering space for the Crown Prince and his VIP guests. The interior décor was characterized by a contemporary treatment of traditional Diriyah patterns throughout the three levels. A lightbox technique was incorporated in the design of the walls, structuring layers of semi-transparent and printed fabric to create a dynamic visual impression. Organic materials and textures inspired by the surrounding Diriyah nature were incorporated into multiple relaxed seating spaces, including an outdoor terrace.

2018
In close proximity to the Royal Cube, in 2018 fine dining restaurants were sensitively integrated into the Ad Diriyah UNESCO site. A modular design approach was used to construct luxury restaurants Cipriani, Nizomi and Shababeek. Each dining structure stood in harmony with the natural surroundings, while still maintaining strong individual brand identity.
